Red Hat Starts New Channel Program For Service Providers In Europe

Closer relations with key sales partners to satisfy soaring demand

RALEIGH, N.C -

Red Hat (NYSE: RHT), the worlds leading provider of open source solutions, today announced that its Certified Service Provider (CSP) Program is now available in Europe. This channel program was launched in North America in late January 2007. With it, open source service provision solutions are extended to selected partners on the European continent. Red Hat will intensify the collaboration with such service-orientated business partners who have already gained extensive knowledge of open source and who have the necessary solutions.

The CSP Program enables Red Hat Partners to learn, train and subsequently implement service methods for system installation and testing. Through the program, Red Hat Partners also become certified on Red Hat’s Network Satellite Servers. The system implementation service standardises processes for system build and implementation so that customers can administrate and optimise hundreds of thousands of systems. The check-up service enables clients to have their IT infrastructure checked by fully trained professionals on site and provides the ability for the infrastructure to be optimised. The service for the Red Hat Network Satellite Server installation routine will be of greatest interest to customers operating 20 or more servers. The service includes planning, installation and configuration of the Red Hat Satellite Servers for optimised system management.

“With the growing use of Red Hat and open source software in enterprises, the demand for service and support grows too”, said Karl-Heinz Wimmer, Senior Director of Service, Red Hat. “With the CSP Program, we make sure that users will be able to find nearby partners that are capable of providing top-notch service according to market leaders.”

“The program is a fundamental step in our channel development in EMEA”, said Petra Heinrich, Director of Channels, EMEA, Red Hat. “The program also helps our clients to find the most suitable partner for their project. Open source projects can therefore be planned and implemented more effectively.”

"We are excited about the great participation in Red Hat’s Certified Service Provider Program”, said Dr. Christine Haupt, Director Consulting Services, Computacenter, Europe’s leading vendor-independent IT service provider. “With this program we will be able to offer our wide range of project-oriented service solutions for build and integration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux infrastructure solutions to an even wider audience.”

SerNet is a Red Hat Partner that has been part of the program’s development from the initial stages. As a system integrator with an emphasis on data security, data protection and open source software, SerNet Consulting offers training and support and is a technological market leader with services for the open source software SAMBA. “The CSP Program substantially improves our performance capabilities as a service provider in the open source market segment”, said Dr. Johannes Loxen, CEO, SerNet. “The synergy of this partnership will give our customers far better access to the joint portfolio of Red Hat and SerNet solutions.”

Compel is a local system vendor in Great Britain. “We are thrilled about the wide range of solutions that Red Hat’s CSP Program offers our clients”, said Trish Lee, Commercial Product Manager, Compel. “Now our service offering portfolio is well rounded out and we can adjust to any kind of implementation.”
