Red Hat, Inc. (Nasdaq: RHAT), the world's leading provider of open source solutions to the enterprise, today announced the first-annual Red Hat Summit. Summit 2005 will be held in New Orleans June 1-3 and will bring together the diverse people that make up the open source community, including community contributors, developers, customers, and partners. The Summit will blend different views and content into a program useful for attendees building and enabling open source architectures.
General sessions will be held each morning of the three-day Summit followed by in-depth sessions grouped into three main tracks for attendees to choose from:
- Practical Track
'How-to' sessions led by industry experts will range from building a failover cluster or storage configuration to SELinux policy management. - Technical Track
Interactive sessions will feature subject matters such as performance optimization, Fedora project, open source technology trends and high performance computing clusters. - Business and Current Issues Track
In-depth discussions on issues shaping the open source computing industry, such as its role in government, international expansion, intellectual property and volunteerism.
"The Summit is truly a user-driven event. It is an opportunity for open source users to thoroughly examine relevant choices for their infrastructures," said Michael Tiemann, Open Source Advocate at Red Hat.
