London, UK – 25 September, 2012 – Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), the world's leading provider of open source solutions, today announced that Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.0 has been recognized as Techworld’s Virtualization Product of the Year 2012.
The Techworld award winners were announced at an awards ceremony in London on the 13th September and were presented by Mike Simons, editor of Techworld. The annual Techworld awards program recognizes both products and users, highlighting innovation across the IT industry.
Receiving the 2012 Virtualization Product of the Year Award reflects Red Hat’s ongoing commitment to the development of high-quality and cost-effective virtualization management solutions for server and desktop virtualization. Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization offers enterprises a compelling platform for large-scale virtualization initiatives and internal/private cloud deployments. The powerful Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) hypervisor has achieved record-setting virtualization benchmark results and consolidation ratios.
“Red Hat won the Techworld virtualization product of the year award despite stiff competition. Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.0 marks a significant upgrade on Red Hat’s enterprise virtualization capabilities. With so much of the industry’s cloud infrastructure deployed on open source products, Red Hat has reminded CIOs and service providers that there is a technically accomplished and ultra-competitive alternative to proprietary virtualization products,” said Mike Simons, editor of Techworld.
“This award reflects the positive response we have had from customers and partners with regards to Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.0,” said Werner Knoblich, vice president and general manager, EMEA at Red Hat. “Red Hat has provided a robust and effective solution in order to provide a flexible and cost-effective virtualization solution for our customers.”
