Of the many challenges enterprise architects face, optimizing performance across IT is near the top of the list. Automation plays a significant role in optimizing performance, and Ansible is one of the most popular tools for automation. Therefore, if you want to learn new ideas and best practices around automating IT, AnsibleFest is an excellent place to look.

AnsibleFest 2022 will be held in Chicago on October 18 and 19 at the Sheraton Grand Riverwalk. It's the first time in several years that AnsibleFest will be in person, enabling you to hear live keynotes and presentations, participate in labs and demos, and network with colleagues. There are dozens of sessions applicable to enterprise architects at every level of their career or role, so check the entire event catalog to find the sessions that appeal to you, and then register to start building your calendar.

To help you get started adding to your agenda, here are just some of the sessions you may want to put on your "must-see" list.

Getting started with automation

Christian Jung and Christian Lorenz will explain how DATAEV's Ansible automation journey took the company From one playbook in one team to 1,800 templates from 50 teams. They'll also share some of the tricks and practices they discovered along the way and how they're sharing their excitement for Ansible throughout their traditional organization.

Ansible automation controller's metrics can help you set up alerts and take actions to maintain uptime and reliability. In Metrics that matter, Elijah DeLee and Rebeccah Hunter will share key metrics to monitor and how to use Prometheus, Grafana, and AlertManager to keep track of performance.

Roberto Carratala and Faz Sadegui will talk about Deploying and managing OpenShift cloud services at scale with Ansible Automation Platform. You'll learn how to implement an open hybrid cloud across multiple providers such as AWS, GCP, and Azure.

Real-world architectural automation practices

In Ansible Automation Platform as a service using the Operator SDK, Sylvain Chen and Raphael Mueller share how SIX, the core infrastructure provider for the Swiss financial center, automated their migration from Ansible Tower to Red Hat AAP 2.2.

If you've been using Ansible for a while, you might be considering upgrading from Ansible Tower to Ansible Automation Platform. If you're interested in learning strategies for simplifying your migration, don't miss Michael Raugh's talk about NOAA/NESDIS's experience Upgrading to Ansible Automation Platform and Hari Vedam's lessons learned from Discover's transition in Deep dive into Ansible Tower to Ansible Automation Platform migration.

Xcel Energy's Rael Rodning will present Compute data security enablement at the edge. She'll explain how power companies use edge computing to meet increased demand for high-quality, highly reliable, clean electricity. She'll also discuss the role of automation in enabling compute at the edge and secure data transmission from the edge back to the aggregation application.

Lockheed Martin uses autonomous solutions to deliver products as code to scale across customers, not just servers. In Autonomy: The bridge between automation and AI, Lonnie Bostic and William Swofford will talk about how they make solutions available to users across aerospace, defense, and security corporations.
