At Red Hat Summit 2018, Red Hat showed our commitment to empower greater customer choice, from the hybrid cloud infrastructure supporting business-critical platforms to the workloads running on Red Hat’s cloud-native portfolio. This continues today, with Microsoft SQL Server 2019 Public Preview now available as a Red Hat certified container from the Red Hat Container Catalog and Microsoft Container Registry.

As a Red Hat certified container, SQL Server 2019 Public Preview has passed the rigorous checks and integration testing applied to Red Hat certified applications and the image is also certified and tested by Microsoft. Customers can have greater confidence that the components in a Red Hat certified container:

  • Come from a trusted source

  • Have not been tampered with

  • Are tracked for known vulnerabilities

  • Are backed by support from Red Hat and our partners; and

  • Are compatible on Red Hat platforms across the hybrid cloud.

Microsoft SQL Server delivered as a Red Hat certified container can be deployed across the hybrid cloud, from bare-metal to public cloud infrastructure, on Red Hat’s portfolio of cloud-native technologies. This will include Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and the world’s leading enterprise Linux platform, Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Backed by our ecosystem of partners, Red Hat provides a pathway to the hybrid cloud with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, the industry’s most comprehensive enterprise Kubernetes platform. Built on the trusted backbone of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat OpenShift is designed to provide a more secure, consistent foundation to deliver applications on footprints across the hybrid cloud, enabling IT teams to focus on what matters and customer expectations in a digital world.

Enterprises want the right tools to meet their specific requirements, regardless of the vendors or communities backing those technologies. Red Hat and our partners stand ready to provide these solutions, regardless of IT footprint and workload.

To try out Microsoft SQL Server as a Red Hat certified container now, customers with a current Red Hat subscription can access the container image through the Red Hat Container Registry.
