For the second straight year, Red Hat Storage has received the prestigious Brand Leader award for Scale-out Object Storage Software by IT Brand Pulse. The 2015 winners were selected by IT professionals in an independent, non-vendor-sponsored survey of IT Brand Pulse’s million members and 100+ online IT groups.
Red Hat Ceph Storage led a competitive field of fifteen vendor choices to sweep top rankings in all six categories: market, price, performance, reliability, service and support, and innovation.
The IT Brand Pulse announcement came at the heels of the OpenStack Foundation’s sixth and most recent user survey showing 62% of users preferred Ceph for OpenStack -- a leading use case for scale-out storage -- nearly three and more than four times the two closest alternatives. It was the third straight year that Ceph had received this honor.
Ceph’s continued popularity stems from ongoing technical ingenuity, close collaboration with the open source community, and a stepped up focus by Red Hat in its software-defined storage portfolio with the addition of Ceph in 2015. Ceph was specifically designed as an optimal software-defined storage system for cloud infrastructure. It provides a self-healing, unified platform to support block, object, and file storage, tight integration with OpenStack’s modular architecture and key components for ephemeral and persistent storage, and massive scalability to manage petabytes of data. These factors along with Ceph’s flexible scale-out architecture on standard servers and disks make it an ideal, cost-effective alternative to traditional NAS and SAN architectures for enterprise-grade solutions like Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform, Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure, and the Red Hat NFV Platform.
