Now, on to this month’s Red Hat customer success stories…

Credit Agricole Group’s Infrastructure Platform team scales automation with Red Hat

Founded in 1894, Crédit Agricole Group is the largest cooperative financial institution and tenth largest bank in the world. The bank established the Infrastructure Platform team (CA-GIP) in 2019 to manage its IT infrastructure and technology and services operations for its insurance, corporate banking and investment banking services.

As demand for digital financial services rapidly increased, CA-GIP sought to improve the group’s operational efficiency to keep pace, opting to replace its community Ansible solution with something that could integrate a variety of systems to address current and future business needs.

With a successful past adoption of Red Hat platform technology, CA-GIP decided to adopt Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform to manage infrastructure provisioning, configuration and patching. And while the organization had previously deployed automation in support of a variety of business needs, CA-GIP engaged Red Hat Consulting to work with the group’s senior engineering staff and help its teams quickly build related skills.

In just one year this project achieved a full return on investment, significantly reduced the effort and resources needed for automated operations and has simplified the adoption of new automation capabilities. Read the full case study to learn more about this project.

Taiwan Business Bank creates responsive IT foundation for digital banking services

Founded in 1915, Taiwan Business Bank (TBB) was the first bank in Taiwan for small and mid-sized enterprises (SMEs). As a result of market shifts—and the COVID-19 pandemic—TBB’s online transaction volume has increased more than 60% in recent years.

To support this rapid growth in digital traffic, the bank established a Digital Transformation Committee to improve its experience for hundreds of thousands of SMEs and personal banking customers.

TBB was an early adopter of container- and microservices-based IT infrastructure, but decided at this point to complete a larger system upgrade—including its online, mobile and web ATM banking services—and introduce new features. This upgrade required a more powerful container platform than they had been using previously, and, after assessing offerings from several vendors, they chose Red Hat OpenShift based on a number of factors.

Working closely with Red Hat Consulting, TBB successfully migrated its personal online banking, mobile banking and web ATM systems to Red Hat OpenShift in just four months, resulting in reduced manual work through automated infrastructure management, enhanced system monitoring and resource allocation, and optimized service performance.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield NC builds platform for self-healing processes

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) is working to make healthcare better, simpler, and more affordable. Blue Cross NC has been a long-standing user of ServiceNow as its configuration management database (CMDB), a repository of the hardware and software in the organization’s environment.

When the organization wanted to leverage the data in the CMDB and augment it with other data, however, it found some gaps in this setup. And as Blue Cross NC’s environment continued to grow, its team realized that these gaps would require a full-time developer to manage.

Instead, Blue Cross NC decided to use Red Hat Ansible Content Collections for ServiceNow IT Service Management (ITSM), supported by Red Hat Technical Account Management, to speed up the development of automation workflows. This allowed the use of existing ServiceNow APIs and enabled the use of previously defined workflows and approvals, but kept automation and integration work on the separate, more flexible, Ansible Automation Platform.

The result is a more effective IT operation with reduced dependency on niche external support, the development of an automated “self-healing” process, and the freedom for IT staff to focus on higher-priority tasks.

Learn more about this project and some of the Blue Cross NC team’s future plans in the full case study.
