Red Hat, Inc., the world's leading provider of open source solutions, announces a new vice president and general manager for Latin America. Gilson Magalhães, current country manager at Red Hat Brazil will assume the role, replacing Paulo Bonucci, who led regional operations for the past decade. Magalhães will face the challenge of maintaining the excellent progress made, which has established Latin America as one of Red Hat’s key global markets.
It’s an important role, and I’m honored to take it on. Continuing this story in the AI era will be a rewarding challenge. Red Hat is a forward-thinking company that has consistently been disruptive and set market trends for years. I hope to contribute meaningfully to this journey and expand our presence across the entire region.
To further accelerate the company’s growth in Latin America, Magalhães will focus on driving the adoption of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence and automation, built on a foundation of hybrid cloud, Red Hat’s key selling point. With over 35 years of experience in the IT market, Gilson Magalhães joined Red Hat in 2013. As country manager for Brazil, he led the company's growth in the country. During his career, he has worked for companies such as Dell, where he served as General Manager, Oracle Brazil, BTD and Microlog Computers. Magalhães will also remain as country manager for Brazil until the end of 2024, when the executive who will take over the position is expected to be announced. During these three months, Paulo Bonucci will remain with the company to ensure a smooth transition for all customers, partners and employees.
Strong Presence
Founded in 1993 in Raleigh, United States, Red Hat entered the Latin American market in 2005, establishing offices in Brazil and Argentina. Since then, the company has earned the trust of numerous customers in both private industries and government sectors. With several successful projects across various areas, Red Hat has become the leading force in hybrid open cloud solutions, offering a portfolio that helps local companies advance in their digital transformation.
Bonucci led the company through much of this journey. Alongside a strong team of executives and experts, he drove the region’s success. After 12 years at the helm, and over four decades in leadership roles at companies such as Accenture, Oracle and Unisys, the executive leaves Red Hat on Dec. 31 with a sense of accomplishment, eager to pursue personal projects.
