Openshift Application Deployment and Health Monitoring

Jump to section

As modern applications transition to microservices-based architectures, the need for a platform that facilitates both development and operations tasks becomes more critical. Development teams encounter difficulties in constructing, debugging, and seamlessly integrating services. Simultaneously, application operations teams grapple with escalating challenges related to hybrid deployments, capacity scaling, recovery from failures, and metric collection. However, containers and orchestration systems could not satisfy the enterprise’s requirements now.

OpenShift simplifies the development process through features like Source-to-Image (S2I), allowing developers to focus on coding without delving into intricate containerization details. The OpenShift CLI (oc) provides a streamlined interface, enhancing developer efficiency and agility. Applications can become unreliable for a variety of reasons, including temporary connectivity loss, configuration errors, or application errors. Developers can use probes to monitor their applications and be made aware of events that can vary from status to resource usage and errors. This monitoring is useful for fixing problems, but can also help with resource planning and managing.

The following topics will be covered in this webinar:

  • Deploy Simple Container Application
  • Deploy Multi-container Applications
  • Monitoring Application Health
  • Selecting the appropriate Deployment Strategy
