Red Hat locations in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa
We made our name by developing Linux into a mainstream platform. Today we're aiming to do the same with open source middleware, storage, virtualization, and cloud computing. Already we've implemented powerful solutions for customers like Siemens AG,Deutsche Börse Systems, and Specsavers. We're extending our reach, fighting for openness, and having an impact.
Europe, the Middle East, and Africa hold some of our largest engineering offices as well as key sales and support centers.
Brno, Czech Republic
Brno, Czech Republic is the Red Hat engineering hub in central Europe and where you'll find one of Red Hat's most brightly colored offices. The Red Hat Research and Development Centre in Brno is where some of the brightest people who love open source software and problem-solving come to work on the technology they care about.
Associates in Brno don't just come in to do a job; they help lead the fight for openness and transparency in government, are active in development communities, organize conferences, write blogs, and more. Brno is the place for learning. Our Brno associates love to share knowledge and can often be found teaching courses at the local university on subjects like Python, Ruby, and security or holding internal sessions to teach each other about various technical topics.
This high-tech city is surrounded by beautiful forests, offering many opportunities for hiking and cycling. Red Hatters in Brno are very involved in staying healthy. Whether they're running marathons, dancing, singing in an experimental choir, playing music, skiing, snowboarding, or biking, there's always a way to get involved and have fun with other Red Hatters.
Our Munich office—headquarters for Red Hat Europe, the Middle East, and Africa—is located 10 miles southeast of the Munich city center in the industrial area of the small town of Grasbrunn. This diverse office includes associates of many different cultures and nationalities and gets a lot of international traffic. Every week, there seems to be someone from another Red Hat office traveling through Munich, giving Red Hat Munich a strong connection to the rest of the company.
Area attractions include the city hall, Alter Peter steeple, and a small gourmet food market nearby. For chocolate truffles, good wines, or delicacy shops, you don't have to walk far. There are trains from the city centre every 15-20 minutes, with the ride to the office taking approximately 20 minutes.
Our Munich associates enjoy many activities, including a summer volleyball and football tournament where Red Hat competes against other companies from the Technology Park. It's very competitive, of course, but the focus is on having fun and getting to know each other outside of work.
The city of Cork, situated on the banks of the river Lee, is home to 123,000 people, making it the second largest city in the Republic of Ireland. Our Cork office can be found in the Cork Airport Business Park, just south of Cork proper. This is the center for Red Hat's accounting and finance efforts for all of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and also has associates in Order Management, Customer Service, and Customer Data.
Associates here come from all over, with many cultures being represented. Red Hatters get a real taste of this diversity during the annual cooking and baking competition. The camaraderie doesn't end there, as many of the Red Hatters in Cork engage in marathons and rowing competitions together to raise money for local charities. The office itself sits in an interesting area with a view of the city on the horizon, but the feeling of the country nearby: there are cows outside the back door. It makes for a wonderful mix of culture and atmosphere.
Cork city's commitment and contribution to the arts and cultural life is well established. The city is home to galleries, museums, The National Sculpture Factory, dance theatres, and artist workshops. The calendar is packed with festivals ranging from folk, jazz, choral, and film year-long, so for our Cork associates there's always something to see or do.
Red Hat's Farnborough office, located just southwest of London in Hampshire, sits amidst some of England's most notable sites in aviation history. This location overlooks a landmark restored airship hangar frame and The Hub, a restored art deco building that houses amongst other things the Aviator Cafe—a spot well used by Red Hatters. The office also overlooks Farnborough Airport, a small private airfield home to the Airshow every other year, which is fun for the Farnborough team as they have a birds-eye view of all the planes as they come over.
Red Hat's office in Farnborough has recently been refurbished, and associates enjoy a light and open environment with breakout meeting spaces on each floor, some overlooking the airport. There are also two hotels nearby for visitors, a cafe across from the office, and various pubs and restaurants located within walking distance. Coming to and from the office is very easy, as there is a shuttle that runs from the business park to the train station.
This diverse team includes Red Hatters of many nationalities with roles in Marketing, Services, People, IT, and Facilities, with strong Sales and Global Support Services presence.
The famous UK television show, Top Gear, shot an episode in the Farnborough Business Park. Look for the Red Hat building and the famous hangar in episode 3 of season 15.
