Frequently asked questions
What do the statuses on my AWS account mean?
There are several statuses that will appear next to your AWS account that appear in the selection dropdown menu during the linking process.
Available: This AWS account can be linked to your Red Hat account and is eligible to start a trial.
Applying: Your AWS account is in the process of having a Red Hat trial applied to it.
Error: An unexpected issue occurred during linking. Please retry linking your account and creating your trial.
Unaccepted: Your AWS account was successfully linked with your Red Hat account, but you still need to accept the AWS offer on the Amazon trial page.
Accepted: Your AWS and Red Hat accounts were linked successfully and your trial was accepted on both sites. You can use your trial on this account.
Cooldown: You have previously participated in this trial and must wait 90 days until you can start a new one.
What is a product trial? How is a Red Hat product trial different from a traditional licensed software trial?
Red Hat® product trials offer all the benefits included in a Red Hat subscription. But Red Hat product trials are more than just access to the latest code. They provide access to all versions of the software, to patches and other software updates, and to our award-winning Red Hat Customer Portal.
Is there a difference between a Cloud marketplace trial and Red Hat product trial?
Not at all. As Red Hat has many cloud provider partners, a Red Hat trial is hosted on the cloud provider’s marketplace for easier access and deployment to their customers. This trial will still provide the same benefits as any of our Red Hat product trial offerings.
Do Cloud marketplace product trials come with support? How do I know if my trial has support?
Yes. These trials do offer Premium Support level access, giving trial customers unlimited, 24x7 access to our global network of experienced technical support engineers.
For assistance specific to your cloud infrastructure, please consult with your cloud provider directly.
Trial users also have access to all product documentation, as well as the vast Red Hat Knowledgebase.
Do I need to have a Red Hat account if I already have an account with my cloud provider to use this trial?
Yes. A Red Hat account is required to link to your cloud provider account. This ensures that the trial period is correctly applied to the intended cloud instance. Once you click the ‘start your trial’ button above, you will be walked through the process of creating a Red Hat account if you do not already have one, as well as the linking process to your cloud provider account.
I’d like to use the product trial software after my trial has expired, or I’d like to use the software in a production environment. What are my options?
- Purchase a subscription.
- Renew the product trial after the 90-day expiry grace period has ended.
- Contact Red Hat Sales to determine if the product trial can be renewed sooner or if a similar product trial is available.
