Red Hat's Jim Whitehurst to Deliver Keynote Address at Open Source Business Conference 2009

Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), the world's leading provider of open source solutions, today announced that President and CEO, Jim Whitehurst, will deliver the keynote address at Open Source Business Conference (OSBC) 2009. In its sixth year, OSBC brings together open source vendors, customers, partners and community members to focus on a variety of topics facing the open source industry.

The past year has brought many changes including a challenging economic environment and increased demand for IT. In his keynote address, Whitehurst will share his vision of how the open source model is meeting the IT demands of today and providing a means for developing and solving problems faster, better and at a lower cost. Whitehurst will also participate in a panel discussion on how to engage and encourage end users of open source to contribute code back to the open source community.

In addition, Richard Fontana, open source licensing and patent counsel for Red Hat, will participate in a panel discussion entitled "Open Source in the Cloud: Legal Strategies." This discussion will focus on open source licensing issues related to Web services including what principles and criteria should inform the creation of Web services terms and how to balance the interests of users and service providers, among other topics.
