Matmut modernized application development with Red Hat OpenShift

French insurance provider, Matmut, was founded 60 years ago on mainframe technology. Its legacy environment caused lengthy development cycles and lacked agility, so in 2021, it decided to adopt containerization. Matmut implemented Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus after conducting a proof of concept. It rated the platform’s cluster management and security features, cloud agnostic capabilities, performance, and developer tooling. The provider worked with Red Hat Consulting on a 12-month initial implementation project, followed by six months’ support around network management and automation. Matmut pulled together a new team of around 30 to learn about OpenShift via Red Hat Training, and to adopt DevOps practices Now, Matmut has a modern container orchestration platform that supports its main customer-facing application. It’s improved the developer experience and sped up processes such as release cycles, which is three months faster, and cluster set up, which is down from three days to one.
