Unify telecommunications operations with Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Adopt a carrier-grade foundation for innovation
Today’s telecommunications landscape is complex. Growing mobile data traffic requires significant investments in network infrastructure. Evolving regulations, data privacy concerns, and cybersecurity threats demand robust security measures. Changing subscriber preferences call for new, innovative applications and services.
For many organizations, a hybrid cloud approach based on a standardized operating environment (SOE) can optimize costs, enhance security, and speed delivery of critical applications. Predefined computing environments that include operating systems and software configurations, SOEs let you efficiently deliver predictable, repeatable, reliable IT infrastructure across your telecommunications network.
Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® forms a flexible, stable, carrier-grade operating foundation for your SOE. By standardizing on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, you can unify your environment, increase security, boost operational efficiency, and innovate with confidence.
Unify hybrid cloud infrastructure with a trusted platform
A standardized operating foundation simplifies infrastructure management, reduces compatibility issues, and promotes consistent IT operations at scale. With Red Hat Enterprise Linux, you can deploy a unified operating system across complex hybrid cloud environments—from on-site infrastructure to public cloud resources to edge devices. Speed cloud-native application development on a trusted operating foundation designed for containers and microservices. Ensure consistent subscriber experiences with streamlined management capabilities and increased workload portability. And take advantage of investments in low-latency 5G networks to deliver edge services—including web-scale and marketplace applications—in less time on a unified platform.
I would rate Red Hat Enterprise Linux nine out of ten. I recommend using Red Hat Enterprise Linux over an open-source [operating system] because it offers better support. Red Hat Enterprise Linux requires minimal maintenance. Red Hat Enterprise Linux is a reliable solution and I recommend it to others.[1]

Increase security without compromising performance
Evolving telecommunications technologies like 5G and edge bring new security concerns and challenges. In fact, 98% of mobile network operators say that it is challenging to implement consistent security policy management in hybrid and multicloud environments.2 Red Hat Enterprise Linux includes built-in features that help you mitigate risk, automate security configurations, and maintain compliance without impacting network performance. Ensure compliance with modern data encryption standards—including General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)—using the high-performance cryptography capabilities of OpenSSL 3.0. Enforce strict policies that limit process and user privileges at scale through Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux). Automate security best practices and maintain consistent configurations across hybrid cloud environments with Red Hat Enterprise Linux system roles.
The most valuable feature is the security insight and the internal firewall, which are common in all the machine tests that we use a lot. The terminal framework and security are all Linux. Red Hat Insights has helped us avoid emergencies in unpatched systems by identifying bugs so that we can fix them. Red Hat Insights provides us with vulnerability alerts and targeted guidance, which helps prevent downtime and increases our uptime to 99 percent.[3]
Boost operational efficiency across your network
Streamlining processes, automating routine tasks, and optimizing resource use are key ways to increase efficiency, improve response times, and lower operational costs. With centralized deployment and management capabilities, Red Hat Enterprise Linux simplifies maintenance and increases reliability and consistency from the network core to edge devices. Boost agility and meet changing subscriber demands by scaling applications across your hybrid cloud environment. Assess your environments, identify and prioritize operational and security risks, and simplify operations with the predictive analytics capabilities of Red Hat Insights—included with Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Streamline system management and track your Red Hat subscription use across your hybrid cloud environment. Simplify infrastructure planning and reduce impacts on IT and business operations with flexible, extended operating system lifecycles.
The reason for going for Red Hat Enterprise Linux is to improve the time to market. It is so easy to just generate a new image. We can configure it with all the security features and all the libraries and packages we need. We can also configure it with the ones requested by developers. We can do all of that.[4]
Innovate with confidence on a certified platform
94% of telecommunication companies in the Fortune Global 500 rely on Red Hat.5 With a global partner ecosystem and a trusted operating foundation, Red Hat helps you deliver innovative services based on modern technologies like artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML). Deploy critical applications on a validated, certified platform that complies with government and industry standards—including Common Criteria and Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS). Explore innovative revenue opportunities with a comprehensive, open platform that increases security and scalability across your network. Gain confidence from the knowledge and experience of Red Hat’s support, training, and consulting services. And improve subscriber experiences through innovative features and capabilities developed in upstream communities and hardened for production use by Red Hat.
We use Red Hat for all sorts of use cases. This includes everything from running applications and databases, or the combination thereof, to building software for products that we use for embedded design. In terms of running and using applications, Red Hat is consistent regardless of the underlying infrastructure. It’s implemented on VMware, Proxmox, KVM, and Hyper-V. Whatever underlying infrastructure you put it on, it’s still Red Hat, which is great.[6]
