Red Hat OpenShift API Management
What is Red Hat OpenShift API Management?
Red Hat® OpenShift® API Management is a hosted and managed API management service delivered as an add-on product to Red Hat OpenShift Dedicated and Red Hat OpenShift on AWS, fully managed services of enterprise Kubernetes platform Red Hat OpenShift.
API-first approach to development
OpenShift API Management supports teams that want to take an API-first approach to building microservices-based applications so they can modernize existing systems, increase developer productivity, and deliver new applications faster.
Red Hat hosts, manages, and provides dedicated support for OpenShift Dedicated, Red Hat OpenShift on AWS, and OpenShift API Management, including configuration, maintenance, and upgrades, so teams can focus on development rather than managing Kubernetes infrastructure.
A free tier (100,000 calls per day) of OpenShift API Management is included with OpenShift Dedicated and Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS.
OpenShift API Management also includes Red Hat OpenShift Service Registry at no extra cost.
OpenShift API Management allows you to:
- Deploy, monitor, and control APIs throughout their entire life cycle
- Create policies governing security and usage
- Use existing identity management systems through a declarative policy without requiring custom code
- Gain insight into health and use of APIs
- Discover and share APIs by publishing to internal or external developer portals
Features & benefits
Streamlined developer experience
OpenShift API Management, when added to OpenShift Dedicated, provides a streamlined developer experience for building, deploying, and scaling cloud-native applications.
With OpenShift API Management, developers can self-provision the API service in their cluster and get a fully managed environment in minutes, configured to meet their needs in a public cloud.
OpenShift API Management includes a user-friendly interface for configuring, publishing, and monitoring APIs. It also lets users avoid administrative tasks and promotes consistency across all services.
Monitor, configure, and publish all of your APIs from a unified, developer-friendly interface. The API manager allows you to connect internal and external applications across multiple clouds, enforce company policies and governance, including rate limits and usage, and manage APIs through every stage of the development life cycle.
It also includes the ability to publish APIs to internal or external portals where developers can learn, test, and collaborate.
Manage API traffic and enforce authentication and usage policies for your APIs with a fully functional API gateway.
Design, build and create APIs and schemas using a visual, click-driven user-friendly interface.
Red Hat's single sign-on (SSO) technology
Red Hat's SSO technology is included with OpenShift API Management to improve the security of your APIs and add authentication to the developer portal. Red Hat's SSO tools include an identity management system that can be federated with existing systems and uses a declarative interface that can be configured without custom code.
Managed by Red Hat
Red Hat hosts and fully manages all components. A dedicated professional team will manage the infrastructure including clusters and service configuration, maintenance, upgrades, and security features.
Modernize legacy systems
Run legacy and new systems within the same platform. By adding API access to legacy systems, teams can build microservices-based applications while also using existing APIs, applications, and systems.
Make APIs discoverable
Use APIs to connect microservices, systems, and applications so developers across the organization can easily access them through a consistent interface. This creates a sandbox where developers can test and deploy workloads.
Join the API economy
Expand your API library and share your APIs with developers and partners outside of your organization. Monetize the services that were built for internal use and increase revenue streams by sharing them with a larger ecosystem.
