We are pleased to announce the release of OpenShift 4.12 for Azure Red Hat OpenShift. The 4.12 release comes with an extended 14-month lifecycle for users. Learn more in the documentation.

In addition to the 14-month extended support, Azure Red Hat OpenShift provides you with a multitude of support benefits. Jointly managed between Red Hat and Microsoft, Azure Red Hat OpenShift is backed by a global Site Reliability Engineering team that proactively manages lifecycle, scaling, security, patching and incident responses along with implementing automation capabilities. When you have an issue, customers can open a support case with either Red Hat or Microsoft, the support case can be transferred from one company to the other leading to a faster resolution.

With this release, Azure Red Hat OpenShift also supports the selection of Red Hat OpenShift 4.12 at install time. Check out the documentation and learn more about the release here. 

You can list versions available to install by running “az aro get-versions --location [REGION]”

Azure Red Hat OpenShift now allows you to deploy infrastructure nodes that host infrastructure components, such as the default router, integrated container registry and components for cluster metrics and monitoring. Running the infrastructure nodes are not counted toward your total number of subscriptions that run your environment. Furthermore, you can increase fault tolerance by deploying infrastructure components across different availability zones. Learn more about deploying infrastructure nodes here.

In addition to its enhanced manageability, the latest version of Azure Red Hat OpenShift introduces a new security release. Deploying private clusters without a public IP is now available, helping to make workloads more secure. This is accomplished by deploying private clusters in UDR mode, tightening security on your cluster deployments. Traffic to mandatory components will be routed through a private endpoint available on the VNet. The release of OpenShift 4.12 for Azure Red Hat OpenShift, 14-month extended lifecycle, and Public IP removal simplifies management and gives you the ability to focus on innovative projects, while Microsoft and Red Hat manage the rest.
