Overview
One Technology Corporation offers enterprise IT solutions and strategic IT consulting and services to meet the needs of its clients across the commercial, federal, state, and local sectors. The company was awarded Red Hat Ecosystem Innovation Awards Automation Accelerator of Partner of the Year 2026 for its project with the City and County of Denver.
One Technology partnered with the City, which has over 15,000 employees serving more than 700,000 people across the region, to standardize IT automation. With Red Hat® Ansible® Automation Platform, the city has automated 500 processes and established a scalable, centralized platform. Thanks to the efficiencies gained through automation, the organization has saved US$7.1 million and reclaimed more than 148,000 staff hours while safeguarding service delivery for government agencies.
Challenge
Coping with shrinking IT budgets and increasing IT complexity
For government organizations across the US, delivering greater efficiency has become a priority. Rising labor costs, shrinking IT budgets, and increasingly complex technology environments are placing significant pressure on teams to do more with fewer resources.
The City and County of Denver’s IT department looks after IT for up to 56 government agencies. The team is focused on delivering agency-focused and adaptive technologies, reducing IT risk, and creating the data dashboards that showcase the City’s performance against service-level agreements (SLA) to the public. “With increasing IT system costs and tightening budgets, the City needed to find a more efficient way to operate,” said Matt Harper, Regional Director, One Technology.
Solution
Automating 500 processes across the city
In 2021, the city’s IT department partnered with One Technology, Red Hat Consulting teams, and a Red Hat Technical Account Manager to standardize IT automation with Ansible Automation Platform.
The city has automated 500 government processes, and continues to identify and deliver new use cases that increase efficiency. The IT team built critical skills and accelerated adoption through hands-on learning and certification programs with Red Hat Training, and the organization has established an Automation Center of Excellence to promote standardization across the organization.
“The City of Denver has built a scalable path to consolidate automation tools and offer a standardized approach to increase efficiencies while maintaining high-quality services for residents,” said Harper.
