Stability

John Lemay
Principal Systems Engineer
RHEL enables us to deploy applications and emerging workloads across bare-metal and virtualized environments and I find those workloads to be extremely reliable. The reliability is so good that I rarely find myself calling Red Hat support any longer. Support is the first benefit of using RHEL, but the second thing is that the platform is so stable that the need to use support is negligible.

Jude Cadet
Sr. Systems Engineer
The best feature is its dependability. We have had some situations where some RHEL servers have been up and running for five years. So, it provides reliability and dependability. It stays up.

Joerg Kastning
Systems Administrator
The stability is awesome because we have had only a few issues in operations. Once it is set up, tested, and ready for production, it just runs. For the usual maintenance tasks, like updating the system and making configuration changes, there are almost no disruptions or issues in our environment. The availability is great.

If it works the first time, usually it will work forever.
Integration

TJ
Cloud and Infrastructure Architecture
Having this integrated solution approach provides us with greater operational excellence because we can see what somebody is building. We have the environment captured and have visibility about what went into it for repeatability, reproducibility, scalability, and lots of other benefits.

Joerg Kastning
Systems Administrator
Ansible and RHEL integrate pretty well. You see pretty quickly that Red Hat has a huge engagement in RHEL as well as in Ansible. They work very well together. This integrated approach decreases the time that we need to set up configuration jobs. It helps us to have faster deployments as well as make configuration changes faster and more secure. It is a tool for everyday use.

Erik Widholm
Sr. Enterprise Engineer
This integrated approach enables me to be a single person managing my images since it does a lot of the manual labor that I used to do, such as building patches, doing system maintenance, and keeping systems consistent. It does all that stuff for me. So, it has offloaded those responsibilities, giving me more work-life balance.

Dan Shaver
Sr. Automation Architect
Red Hat products integrate greatly with the OS itself. We're pretty pleased with that. The integrated approach simplifies our operations to a great extent.
Scalability

Usman Malik
Joint Director
Scalability is excellent. With the introduction of hybrid and multicloud support, one can scale up as well as scale out [their] workloads pretty easily.

Erik Widholm
Sr. Enterprise Engineer
We can scale out. When we need more machines, we just build more machines. That is not a problem ... If the application requires new nodes, we just spin up another node and it is no problem. I could run 10,000 images, and it is not a problem.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux is perfectly scalable.

John Lemay
Principal Systems Engineer
I like to take the approach of considering the appropriate tool for the job. We are primarily a Windows® shop, but often the right tool for the job is Red Hat. That's where we would grow our environment, where it's appropriate and the right tool for the job.
Automation

It has accelerated our deployment of cloud-based workloads because of the availability of the modules that help us to create playbooks for post-configuration. It's not only creating a VM but, after that, we still have to do the post-configuration manually; rather that's all automated now. Where post-configuration used to take one or two days, it now takes a couple of hours.

David W.
IT Systems Engineer
Our improvement as an organization, from using RHEL, has been the ability to take the stance of an infrastructure-as-code approach. We've seen that with automation of server deployment, getting them spun up a lot faster.

With the automation, I can describe the process to the facility, the people, to reduce the manipulation of the code and make automated jobs easy. We get all the results exactly the same, which is great for us.

We primarily use the solution for automation. For example, it can help me to deploy applications. We are intending to do continuous delivery and continuous deployment. For this approach, we are using this product.
Support

Erik Widholm
Sr. Enterprise Engineer
Red Hat offers excellent support in a sphere where it is difficult to find good support.

Fredrik Lehtonen
Systems Analyst at Intraservice
The most valuable thing for us is the support that we get from Red Hat for the product. One of our most important applications here in the City of Gothenburg runs on RHEL, so if something happens, we have a partner to get support from.

Erik Widholm
Sr. Enterprise Engineer
I like the fact that they really dig into things and then provide answers. As the single Linux guy, I kind of need that second admin next to me sometimes to say, "Hey, what about this?" and I am able to do that through the portal. I get my questions answered and trouble tickets resolved.

Sergio Velez
Master Software Engineer
With the technical guides, we can receive immediate results according to our expectations. There are a group of technical procedures that are shared and that you can implement, it is very important. They have multiple use cases. For each of the use cases, they have these technical guides and the compatibility guidelines that go along with it.

In terms of running and using applications, Red Hat is consistent regardless of the underlying infrastructure... Whatever underlying infrastructure you put it on, it's still Red Hat, which is great.

RHEL allows us to run multiple versions of the same application with no problem.

Dan Shaver
Sr. Automation Architect
The AppStream feature provides access to up-to-date languages and tools in a way that interoperates with third-party source code. It makes it a lot easier to maintain that, as well as keeps our developers happy by having newer versions of development languages available.

Dan Shaver
Sr. Automation Architect
We run multiple versions of the same application on a specific operating system, between different instances. RHEL is great at managing and maintaining those different versions. It's so much easier, and it does it without destroying the operating system itself.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux is very stable. You build an image and deploy it, then it runs. As far as the operating system [contributes] to reliability, it is very stable and has low maintenance. It keeps running.
