Red Hat, Inc. Chooses DigitalThink to Build E-Learning Curriculum

Partnership Enables Users to Prepare for RHCE Exams via Web-delivered Training Courses

ノースカロライナ州ローリー -

Red Hat, Inc. (NASDAQ: RHAT), the leader in open source Internet infrastructure solutions, announced today that it has partnered with e-learning pioneer DigitalThink (NASDAQ: DTHK) to deliver Red Hat's leading Red Hat Linux training and certification over the web. Under the agreement, Red Hat will collaborate with DigitalThink to develop a suite of e-learning offerings that will prepare individuals anywhere in the world to take the Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) exam. The RHCE program has distinguished itself as the certification choice of corporate IT organizations and individual professionals.

The Red Hat E-Learning Curriculum will provide a complete web-delivered training program covering the same skills and objectives as the instructor-led classroom track, as well as prerequisites and e-learning on internet and open source technologies. Red Hat is among the first to offer e-learning that is completely coordinated with instructor-led training and with a skills path toward a major certification, affording customers unparalleled flexibility in deciding how to obtain training towards the RHCE Exam. The RHCE Exam is a performance-based certification exam that tests actual competency in managing Linux servers for enterprise roles.

"As Red Hat continues to build out the open source internet infrastructure, it makes sense to work with DigitalThink, a leader in e-learning solutions, to help us deliver the innovation, skills and technologies of the Red Hat training curriculum through redhat.com," said Matthew Szulik, president and CEO of Red Hat. " Through redhat.com, we can have a one to many relationship with those wishing to deploy open source solutions for their internet architecture."

"Our customers have been asking for an online training program. Red Hat can now provide Linux and open source users with a plethora of methods to obtain the intensive training which is required to prepare for the RHCE Exam," states Peter Childers, director of training at Red Hat, Inc. "We are pleased to be working with DigitalThink as a solution partner for the Red Hat E-Learning Curriculum as their quality levels are peerless in the industry."

The RHCE Exam itself will not be administered over the Web, but IT professionals will have the option of training themselves in the required skills entirely via Red Hat's new E-learning curriculum or in combination with classroom training. To take the RHCE Exam, participants will go either to Red Hat or a Red Hat Certified Training Partner, at a growing number of locations across America and worldwide.

"DigitalThink's e-learning platform is uniquely suited to power and host the Red Hat learning portal while also being the chosen supplier of training courseware for millions of Red Hat Linux users," said Pete Goettner, president and CEO of DigitalThink. "As smart companies realize the benefits of a single point of learning, training portals like Red Hat's will serve as an online nexus where experts and peers can connect, communicate and share work-related information more efficiently."

The Red Hat E-Learning Curriculum will be available at www.redhat.com and at www.digitalthink.com. Participants will be able to build training portfolios consisting of any combination of e-learning and/or live classroom training. Red Hat and DigitalThink will collaborate closely on the new e-learning curriculum, which will be the only authorized e-learning path for Red Hat Certified Engineer certification.

About the Red Hat Certified Engineer Program
Taught by RHCEs with considerable internetworking experience, Red Hat's certification program offers more than traditional, multiple-choice written exams and "paper certifications." RHCE Certification requires success on performance-based practical exams, in which users actually demonstrate the ability to: install and configure Red Hat Linux, set up common network (IP) services, perform essential administration, diagnostic tests and troubleshooting, among other internetworking and systems administration tasks. Red Hat courses are available for the entire RHCE certification track, at levels appropriate for both beginners and networking professionals looking to migrate to open source solutions and build or expand their experience with Linux-based operating systems.
