We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you all – kube-burner, the robust performance and scale testing tool for Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift, has officially achieved the CNCF Sandbox status! In the evolving landscape of cloud-native technologies, the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) serves as a hub for incubating and nurturing innovative projects. Kube-burner has become the first and only performance and scale testing tool to attain this recognition, thereby elevating the importance of performance and scale in the cloud native landscape. Cloud native has always been about building, deploying and managing applications at scale, something that makes a performant and scalable platform at the core indispensable. Kube-burner, with its versatile capabilities in scaling, creating, deleting, and patching Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift resources, along with its ability to collect and index Prometheus metrics and benchmark results, perform custom measurements like pprof collection and Pod Ready latency monitoring, has played a crucial role in illuminating the previously obscure aspects of Kubernetes performance. Furthermore, its alerting features notify users when Service Level Objectives (SLOs) are breached, adding an extra layer of insight.

The CNCF Sandbox serves as a proving ground for projects, allowing them to demonstrate their capabilities and build a community around their initiatives. By attaining CNCF Sandbox status, kube-burner solidifies its position as a reliable and easy-to-use solution for performance and scale testing of Kubernetes and by extension Red Hat OpenShift, a crucial aspect of the cloud-native landscape. Kube-burner's journey to CNCF Sandbox status also highlights its growing popularity and the recognition of its value within the cloud-native ecosystem.

This milestone is also a testament to the hard work and innovation of the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform Performance and Scale team and our willingness to work with internal as well as external stakeholders to cater to diverse testing needs across the Red Hat OpenShift Platform components. We look forward to leveraging this recognition to further enhance kube-burner's capabilities and continue our commitment to delivering high-quality tools for Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift Scale Testing. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank CNCF TAG App Delivery for being a trusted guide and partner on this journey of attaining the CNCF Sandbox Status and the CNCF TOC for their vote of confidence.
