We are excited to announce that in collaboration with Microsoft, Azure Red Hat OpenShift for Microsoft Azure Government has now attained Department of Defense (DoD) Impact Level 4 (IL4) certification. DoD IL4 is designed to store, process, and transmit controlled unclassified information (CUI) related to military or contingency operations.
Azure Red Hat OpenShift for Microsoft Azure Government was launched in early 2023, bringing the benefits of the jointly-operated Red Hat OpenShift service to public sector organizations that require strict levels of IT security. With customers actively using the platform, we turned our sights to the DoD IL4 certification. Azure Red Hat OpenShift enables organizations to quickly streamline modernization efforts with a turnkey-application platform, empowering customers to focus on innovative projects while Red Hat and Microsoft manage the rest.
Azure Red Hat OpenShift is also FedRAMP High certified, equipping customers to start using Azure Red Hat OpenShift in the Azure Government cloud. For access to Azure Government FedRAMP documentation, see FedRAMP attestation documents.
The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), an agency of the US DoD, develops and maintains the DoD Cloud Computing Security Requirement Guide (SRG). The Security Requirement Guide outlines that DoD IL4 includes, but is not limited to the following categories of unclassified information: defense, export control, financial, law enforcement, nuclear and privacy information. Contact DISA for access to the most recent Azure Government DoD IL4 PA letter.
With the addition of DoD IL4 certification, Azure Red Hat OpenShift for Microsoft Azure Government customers can be even more confident in their hybrid cloud readiness, rapid agility and high availability of their platform, without sacrificing security standards.
