Kubernetes is gaining popularity in enterprise IT because it provides portability, time savings, and security and stability when scaling containers and moving them among cloud services.
The Red Hat® Shares newsletter helps IT leaders navigate the complicated world of IT―the open source way.
FROM THE EDITOR
Kubernetes is gaining traction
According to the 2021 Kubernetes Adoption Survey by Portworx (PDF), 68% of IT professionals increased their Kubernetes use due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Further, the third-annual Red Hat State of Enterprise Open Source report found that the use of containers and Kubernetes is likely to continue growing throughout this year.
Kubernetes is keeping us busy, too.
Earlier this year, we announced our plans to acquire StackRox, a leader in container and Kubernetes-native security. Then we introduced 2 new Kubernetes-related open source projects: the StackRox project and, in partnership with IBM, Konveyor. We had a big presence at KubeCon Europe in May (watch the recording on demand). And if you want an easier way to start developing applications for Kubernetes, we’ve got you covered with our new developer sandbox for Red Hat OpenShift®.
With all the buzz around Kubernetes―and after covering the basics and learning Kubernetes in previous issues of Red Hat Shares―we decided to dig a little deeper into this emerging technology.
In this issue of the newsletter, find out how to automate security with Kubernetes, how to run a Kubernetes cluster on your laptop, how Kubernetes helped a health insurance provider cut healthcare delivery time by a whopping 92%, and more.
