In the pursuit of modernizing its applications, the organization worked with Red Hat to revolutionize its infrastructure. With a robust, reliable and well-supported platform in mind, Gudang Garam decided to deploy Red Hat OpenShift, the leading hybrid cloud application platform.
Prior to adopting OpenShift, the cumbersome task of building applications from source for each deployment across various environments consumed significant time and effort. The strategic decision to go with Red Hat OpenShift helped to streamline the process, liberating developers to focus on innovation rather than repetitive tasks. Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) is a government-owned bank looking to gain a competitive edge in the industry through digitization of products, business processes and controlled operating costs. With the rise of digital-first lifestyles, customers are seeking mobile banking solutions that are more intuitive, faster, and feature-rich. As the organization strives to meet the evolving needs of its customers, BNI called on Red Hat's expertise to integrate modern technologies into its customer-centric banking solutions to enhance their experience, such as advanced security features, artificial intelligence-based customer support and better real-time transaction capabilities.
BNI is working with Red Hat to ensure a viable architectural design to create a state-of-the-art mobile banking application that will attract new customers, especially the tech-savvy Millennial and Generation Z generations. Red Hat Consulting and its ecosystem of partners also support BNI in launching this application in Indonesia to transform the current way of working.

National Australia Bank (NAB) is one of the largest financial institutions in Australia that provides a comprehensive range of banking services to individuals, businesses, and institutions. It was through the need for improved reporting and streamlined operations and systems, as well as significant resource constraints, that NAB realized the need to transform its IT operations through automation. Their journey with Red Hat evolved through several key phases such as platform security, Linux patching, and disaster recovery automation. Now, NAB is fully optimizing operations after having successfully onboarded multiple teams, including Database, Digital Forensics and Cyber Security.
The investment in the Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform allowed NAB to address resource constraints by efficiently managing an extensive inventory of thousands of devices without increasing headcount and compromising performance. The integration of diverse systems also enabled NAB to consolidate various systems and processes into a unified automation framework, improving efficiency and quality of services, benefiting both customers and employees by providing fast and more reliable banking services. These contributed to millions of cost savings annually and positioned NAB as a front-runner in the ANZ financial services industry.
NAB has leveraged Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform to simplify our environment through automation, allowing us to reduce manual operational tasks and improving our compliance and security remediation timeframes. We started working with Red Hat in 2018, drawn to the opportunity to adopt automation practices in-house with their support. Ansible has delivered with the flexibility and power we needed to enhance overall efficiency.
Spark New Zealand Limited

With 24 regional business hubs, 61 retail hubs stores, more than 5,000 employees, and over 22MW of data centre capacity built, Spark New Zealand Limited is New Zealand’s largest telecommunications and digital services provider. Their services range from mobile, broadband, entertainment, and cloud services, to high-tech solutions such as AI, IoT and 5G. As a long-time consumer of Red Hat products, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat OpenStack Platform and Red Hat OpenShift, Spark wanted to use these solutions in a more sophisticated and centralized manner, delivering a platform for the future of 5G and beyond while servicing the needs of existing generations of network functions.
As lifecycle updates for technology stack become more frequent and rapid, Spark was committed to providing consistency for operations while ensuring customization for complex workloads. Working with Red Hat enabled Spark to achieve faster, more coordinated, and reliable deployments, improving operational costs and efficiency. Apart from pulling forward in project timelines, Red Hat solutions also improved security and compliance while modernizing applications, reducing risk in cost of outages and brand damage for both Spark and customers reliant on critical communication services.
The team embarked on this project with one aim – to automate everything without compromises and create a platform of the future. As a longtime customer of Red Hat, we wanted to continue this partnership by taking it to another level: to challenge the way technology is used to bring more benefits to our customers. SA Power Networks

SA Power Networks is South Australia’s sole electricity distributor, providing electricity to 99% of the State’s population – more than 1.7 million customers. Increasing operational and project delivery demands have driven the business to look at new and innovative ways to streamline repetitive tasks and reduce after-hours patching work. SA Power Networks' bespoke cloud configuration tool was adding unnecessary complexity to processes for infrastructure builds and deployment, and a lack of automation and standard tooling was preventing improved ways of working across the IT department. To address this, the team decided to build a new set of capabilities to scale IT operations and improve cost savings.
Working with longtime Red Hat partner Advent One, SA Power Networks deployed the Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform to build, configure, and orchestrate patching its Linux and Windows environments. Additionally, SA Power Networks is trialing Microsoft Azure Red Hat OpenShift to increase container management capabilities for new projects. As a result, saving 100 hours per month on repetitive tasks, highlighting the significance and time savings that can be achieved by automating operational tasks. In addition to that, there are positive flow-ons across the IT department as SA Power Networks can now standardize infrastructure and delivery builds, reducing its manual patching input. This has removed human error and increased traceability.
SA Power Networks is playing a key role in helping South Australia reach its goal of net-100% renewable energy by 2030 and zero emissions by 2050. Continuing to provide dependable services and keeping systems secure is therefore pivotal to SA Power Networks and for everyone living in South Australia.
A key goal of this project was freeing up our people’s time to work on what truly mattered, and automation became a clear solution that would have organization-wide benefit. Using open-source solutions, as opposed to bespoke or proprietary solutions, has also encouraged a culture of open sharing among our teams. Thanks to Advent One and Red Hat, we’re thrilled to have extracted more benefits than we envisaged from this project.

StarHub Limited (StarHub) is a leading telecommunications company in Singapore. Through its multi-year DARE+ transformation, StarHub is reshaping the way Singaporeans experience and connect with the world by stepping beyond the confines of a traditional telco. To meet the evolving needs of its business users, the organisation is focused on shifting to superior 5G products, deepening digitalisation and transiting from legacy systems to more cost-effective cloud solutions.
To address the need for an enterprise platform that could help to avoid potential risks and limitations associated with proprietary solutions, as well as vendor lock-ins, StarHub deployed Red Hat OpenShift to streamline the management and deployment of applications. This allowed StarHub to enable IoT customers to manage their assets remotely andgenerate valuable data insights and mitigate the risk of depending on a single cloud vendor.
Aligned with Singapore’s Smart Nation programme, the team at StarHub was looking to work with a trusted partner to assist in our DARE+ transformation journey. With their robust ecosystem of support and services, we were confident that Red Hat’s solutions could integrate seamlessly with our existing systems, as we worked towards retiring our legacy platforms. Now with the help of Red Hat, StarHub can benefit from a consistent platform experience across public, private and on-premises cloud environments.

Synapxe is Singapore’s national healthtech agency inspiring tomorrow’s health. It partners and supports Singapore’s Ministry of Health in realising national healthcare policies and outcomes, including the public healthcare IT master plan and architecture, enabling technology innovation and developing HealthTech professionals.
Synapxe embarked on the journey of using Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform as an enterprise-wide platform to achieve their objective of automating time-consuming, repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and accuracy. This has enabled Synapxe to streamline processes, improve and manage their private cloud IT infrastructure in a prompt and consistent manner, while conforming to governance and compliance policies, enabling the team to focus on higher value services like enhancing customer experiences and providing better health and care for healthcare users in Singapore.
Working with providers such as Red Hat, Synapxe’s capabilities to automate repetitive tasks are enhanced. This helps us to be better equipped to support multiple healthcare application systems across hospitals within Singapore’s public healthcare clusters, providing solutions that enhances their operational efficiency and allow them to focus more of their time on providing patient-centric care.

While LG Electronics has established a name for itself in the automotive and manufacturing industry, the organization recognizes business challenges in the software defined vehicle (SDV) environment. LG Electronics saw the collaboration with Red Hat as a strategic move to overcome technological limitations and challenges that a company alone is unable to navigate. This enabled the organization’s SDV task force to focus on innovating the software platforms of vehicles to achieve more intelligent and connected mobility, built on the foundation of Red Hat’s linux enterprise and Red Hat In-Vehicle Operating System.
The goal of LG Electronics’ SDV task force is to create better vehicles by continuously improving the software even after launch. The increased scalability of applications and deployment frequency of features have allowed SDV to accelerate technological innovation while operating in a stable environment. This project paves the way for cloud native technologies to be extended in more diverse ways to vehicles, delivering user experiences that can make the future of driving a reality sooner.
Previously, it took us a substantial amount of time to apply a specific policy or scenario to a vehicle after its launch. Working with Red Hat has allowed us to accelerate this process, while operating in a secure environment, thanks to the Red Hat In-Vehicle Operating System. We look forward to contributing to the advancement of software-defined vehicle (SDV) technology through this successful collaboration.
NIRS Daegu Center

Established in 2005, the National Information Resources Services (NIRS) is the world's first pan-governmental integrated data center which aims to provide high quality smart services with cloud, AI, big data and IoT to pave the way in implementing a world-class digital government system. Operating and managing 1,460 digital government services for government officials and the general public, NIRS wanted to modernize their applications and accelerate the cloud migration process for its third data center, the NIRS Daegu Center.
In order for this project to be successful, NIRS needed the latest open source technology that could provide an automated infrastructure environment to deliver smart services seamlessly and efficiently, and set a standardized IaaS and PaaS platform service for government organizations. Red Hat’s expertise in helping enterprises overcome barriers to their digital transformation journeys and optimize IT infrastructure became the determining factor in this collaboration. With Red Hat, the NIRS Daegu Center's cloud computing environment will become a new standard for Korea’s public sector.

Mitsubishi UFJ Information Technology, Ltd.

Mitsubishi UFJ Information Technology Corporation (MUIT), the core company responsible for the IT strategy of the Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, provides a wide range of IT solutions and secure, reliable services to its customers. The company was one of the first to adopt open source software such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform, and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform for MUFG Bank's critical systems. MUIT is enhancing its services to provide a new customer experience through its channel systems and other services.In recent years, MUIT has made full-scale use of Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS to improve operational efficiency and shift to value-creating operations. Since further high availability was required when revamping the accounts system, Red Hat OpenShift was adopted to create an on-premise managed environment. Based on the results of container technology utilization cultivated through these efforts, MUIT plans to further expand the scope of its work with Red Hat and begin deployment in our medium-term management plan starting from fiscal 2024. Through these efforts, MUIT aims to optimize system investment, strengthen development capabilities, and improve delivery speed to achieve advanced IT operations with an eye toward a multi-platform approach.
As a core company supporting MUFG's IT strategy, we are taking on various challenges to both accelerate the creation of new value and provide secure and stable services. With Red Hat's support, we are building a hybrid cloud and on-premises platform with OpenShift and updating development around it.In this way, we aim to optimize our system investment, strengthen our development capabilities, and improve our delivery speed so that we can continue to grow as a strong IT company that drives the development of society and MUFG.
KDDI CORPORATION

KDDI Corporation is one of Japan's major telecommunications carriers capable of providing both mobile and fixed-line services on its own. In its mid-term strategy, KDDI has identified its “Satellite Growth Strategy,” which provides value-added services centered on 5G communications and other services, as the key to expanding earnings. The company is continuously working on network function virtualization (NFV), which increases independence by horizontally separating the infrastructure for providing telecommunication services, and is deploying 5G network functions using Red Hat OpenStack Platform and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform to automate the hardware and network infrastructure.
KDDI and Red Hat have been technically collaborating on efforts to implement and operate software for 5G core networking. Together, we have developed a joint resource on a configuration for running Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, which deploys communications software containers (CNFs) on RHOSPs, replacing siloed communications infrastructure infrastructure on a shared platform and building OpenShift on each tenant to improve operational and hardware efficiency and secure security between systems. The project has improved operational and hardware efficiencies and ensured security between systems as it enters commercial operation. Through this project, Red Hat and KDDI have achieved rapid, coordinated and reliable deployments, and the results have been credited with increasing flexibility and speed of development and reducing the cost of preparing for the telecom cloud.
With the proliferation of 5G, the applications of telecommunications continue to expand, and telecommunications has become an important social infrastructure that is indispensable to people's lives. To respond to this expansion of applications, the infrastructure that supports the telecommunications services we provide must be more sophisticated, more responsive, higher quality and cost effective.To achieve this, we are driving the virtualization of our telecommunications infrastructure with Red Hat's open source technology to create a mechanism that allows us to flexibly build multiple communications functions, including data and voice. We are working with Red Hat to solve the issues of system design automation and quality control functions required for actual construction and operation, and will continue to work with Red Hat to respond quickly to customer needs.

OPTAGE Inc. is a group company of The Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc. that provides high-speed, high-quality telecommunications services using its own optical fiber network, as well as low-cost smartphones, energy, home security and other services tailored to customers' lifestyles. In renewing its “eo Hikari” consumer FTTH service application site, the company enlisted the help of Red Hat Open Innovation Lab, to implement an agile approach to the site, backed by Red Hat's highly professional support.Through this service, OPTAGE Inc. has been able to significantly improve the rate of new customer web acquisitions.
Last year, the company adopted Red Hat OpenShift, which not only improved its agility and responsiveness to bring services to market, but also made the integration between systems very complex and burdensome due to the lack of standardized APIs. Adding Red Hat Application Foundations in combination with OpenShift helped them achieve a high level of integration between systems. The speed of change in the business environment surrounding the company has been increasing recently, and the need to achieve more things faster than ever before has become a pressing issue. As the communications infrastructure continues to increase in importance, there are growing expectations for further improvements in stability and availability. Recognizing the need for a radical organizational transformation through automation, OPTAGE Inc. leveraged Red Hat Consulting to acquire the know-how to promote efficient automation and to foster a corporate culture to spread automation.
In addition to providing highly reliable information and communication services, we aim to create a new future together with our customers through cutting-edge technologies such as AI, IoT, and multi-cloud, in order to promote DX, which is accelerating throughout society. In order to respond quickly to customer needs and continue contributing to the development of society, we believe it is important to transform our architecture to one that is flexible and agile, and to strengthen our human resources and organizational capabilities to achieve this. In this initiative, we have taken on a variety of challenges, such as building a flexible platform using OpenShift, developing sites and acquiring methods using Agile, and acquiring skills and building a promotion system for Automation 2.0, while being accompanied by experts from Red Hat. We will continue to respond flexibly to changes in the environment and new technologies. We would like to continue to take on challenges while balancing human resource development and productivity improvement in order to speedily provide services that satisfy our customers while flexibly responding to changes in the environment and new technologies.

Rakuten Card is a leading fintech services company that issues the Rakuten Card credit card. With the support of RedHat Open Innovation Labs, Rakuten Card redefined its development culture to meet the rapidly evolving world of credit card services. This initiative involved collaboration across management and business units to ensure an effective, flexible, and speedy development style that swiftly meets customer needs.
As a result of this project, Rakuten Card significantly reduced lead time for service releases, delivering a superior user experience to both merchants and individual customers. The initiative led to a 70% increase in the number of service releases and a 33% improvement in lead time compared to the previous fiscal year.
Agile development is not something that can be achieved solely by the IT department; it requires a company-wide transformation that changes the mindset, operations, and decision-making processes of all stakeholders. With the support of Red Hat Open Innovation Labs, we were able to undertake steady awareness reforms and training, which have lead to truly positive results. Quickly realizing the benefits of this initiative has reaffirmed the importance of creating an environment that excites our engineers, which is something our company values greatly. Receiving this recognition has given us the confidence to build on this effort so our engineers can take on even greater challenges going forward. We will continue to drive company-wide reforms and nurture talent, from our product owners to engineers.

National Stock Exchange India Limited (NSE) was the first exchange in India to implement electronic or screen-based trading. It began operations in 1994 and is ranked as the largest stock exchange in India in terms of total and average daily turnover for equity shares every year since 1995, based on SEBI data. NSE has a fully integrated business model comprising exchange listings, trading services, clearing and settlement services, indices, market data feeds, technology solutions and financial education offerings. NSE also oversees compliance by trading, clearing members and listed companies with the rules and regulations of SEBI and the exchange. NSE is a pioneer in technology and ensures the reliability and performance of its systems through a culture of innovation and investment in technology. NSE is the world’s largest derivatives exchange by trading volume (contracts) as per the statistics maintained by Futures Industry Association (FIA) for calendar year 2023. NSE is ranked 3rd in the world in equity segment by number of trades (electronic order book) in 2023, as per the statistics maintained by World Federation of Exchanges (WFE).
As part of its Digital Transformation and innovation journey, NSE has adopted an “automation first” strategy to enhance enterprise-wide transformation and resiliency. This forward-thinking approach leverages advanced technology tools, skilled personnel, streamlined processes and facilitated cultural shifts to meet the dynamic demands of the capital market in India. NSE’s innovative practices have set global standards, achieving a world record of 1971 crores (19.71 billion) orders and 28.55 crore (280.55 million) trades in a single trading day. This initiative has led to significant cost savings, resource optimization, and accelerated infrastructure deployment, all while maintaining stringent security compliance. A key component to this initiative is Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, which has been instrumental in reducing manual IT tasks and boosting IT staff productivity within NSE.
The current scale of business that we manage here at NSE does not allow any room for error or lapses in security compliance. We are glad that the deployment of Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform has significantly enhanced our overall operational efficiency. This has enabled our systems to handle high volumes of transactions seamlessly while meeting all security compliance demands. Once again, Red Hat has proven to be a strategic partner in our automation journey.

Bank of India (BOI) offers a wide range of financial products and services including deposits, loans, credit cards, insurance, and investment products to customers of various scales. With the vision to become the bank of choice for corporates, medium business and upmarket retail customers, as well as developmental banking for small business, mass market and rural markets, BOI saw the importance in keeping up with changing customer behaviour and rapidly increasing competition.To reshape traditional banking practices via implementing digital technologies, BOI worked with Red Hat to revamp their mobile and internet banking services, providing these products under one single digital umbrella – the BOI Omni Neo app.
Since BOI embarked on its migration of legacy architecture, the deployment of Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform has improved the customer experience with a more responsive and interactive user interface and enhanced security features. Beyond delivering better user experience, the app also enabled faster time to market for new product launches. Having witnessed success with the BOI Omni Neo app, the bank is now expanding the use of OpenShift to provide innovative applications in the areas of digital payments and analytics.
The bank has envisaged the BOI Omni Neo app to deliver not only business growth at an accelerated rate, but also improved customer experiences for our users. Having commenced operations on Nov 10, 2003, Multi Commodity Exchange of India Limited (MCX) is India’s leading commodity derivatives exchange with a market share of about 98 percent in terms of the value of commodity futures contracts traded in the financial year 2024-25 (April - June 2024). With pan-India presence, MCX serves as a dynamic platform for the Indian commodity market ecosystem, offering dual advantages of fair price discovery and efficient risk management as well as a clearing and settlement system through its subsidiary, MCXCCL. It offers trading in a diverse range of commodities, spanning multiple segments including bullion, energy, metals and agri commodities, as well as sectoral commodity indices.
In October 2023, the Exchange successfully migrated to a new trading platform, marking a key milestone in the MCX journey to build a next- generation technology infrastructure for the commodity market that was aligned with the Exchange’s strategic vision encompassing capacity building, enhanced user experience and scalability.
With Red Hat’s leadership in the enterprise open source space, MCX consideredRed Hat a trusted partner capable of providing an enterprise platform that meets the organization-wide operating system requirements with container capabilities. It helped in the successful migration of the trading, risk management and clearing & settlement systems to the new platform, which could accommodate the growing business requirements.
MCX is the first exchange in India to successfully migrate its entire trading, risk management, clearing, and settlement systems using a “big bang” approach to new systems based on enterprise open source solutions by Red Hat. This supported increasing capacity and enabled faster resolution of VAPT observations as well as other patch management requirements. It stands testimony for other enterprises on how pursuing digital transformation and embracing enterprise open-source could prove helpful in transforming their business.

Tata Motors is a global automobile manufacturer and is one of India's biggest automobile manufacturing companies with an extensive range of integrated, smart and e-mobility solutions in its portfolio. It had gotten to a point where securing the organisation’s website and applications became imperative for the organisation as it continued to expand. As unauthorised access to protected data would incur millions of dollars in various financial penalties, the IT department had to limit user access to critical information within the organisation and ensure that access to these corporate resources was protected. Assigning and tracking user privileges could no longer be done manually, due to its high risk of error, leading the organisation to turn to alternative solutions for Identity and Access Management (IAM).
The deployment of Red Hat Single Sign-On enabled Tata Motors to automate most of these high-risk tasks. It also eased the coordination of multiple resources by merging them together, providing a one-stop solution that managed all the organisation’s identity under a centralised database.

Airport Authority Hong Kong is responsible for the operations and development of Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), aiming to strengthen HKIA as the leading international aviation hub and a key engine for the economic growth of Hong Kong. To cope with the future air traffic demand, HKIA is expanding into a Three-runway System (3RS). Foreseeing a surge in operational demand, the organization looked to modernize its applications, expand capacity and embrace automation to maintain its status as a global aviation hub.
To streamline operations and improve efficiency, Airport Authority Hong Kong implemented Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, to automate system patching and provisioning. It also helped to facilitate resource allocation, reduce manual effort and human error to fulfill standardization and security compliance. The organization was also able to deliver a smart travel experience to visitors of Hong Kong with the “My HKG” mobile app, providing real-time flight status, airport maps, public transport information and more.
With a vast and intricate infrastructure, including terminals, runways, cargo facilities and more at HKIA, managing the complex infrastructure while ensuring operations remain seamless during the transition to automation posed a significant challenge. Like many large organizations, we had several legacy systems in place, requiring more careful planning when it came to integrating the systems with more modern tools. Introduction of the platform enables us to reduce operational costs, while increasing business agility and scalability of our infrastructure and services.

Hospital Authority is responsible for managing Hong Kong's public hospitals services, comprising 43 hospitals and institutions, 49 specialist outpatient clinics and 73 general outpatient clinics with a workforce of about 88,000 and over 29,000 beds. Recognising the importance of technology in healthcare, the Hospital Authority has been implementing various initiatives to enhance healthcare delivery through the adoption of technology, such as electronic health records, telehealth, HA Go and digital health solutions. Over the past 30 years, Hospital Authority has adopted various technologies to develop IT solutions that support growing demands in public hospitals and clinics. These technologies automate and streamline hospital workflows to improve operational efficiency and clinical safety, thereby enhancing patient outcomes. However, as the technical footprint has expanded, so has the technical debt, impacting Hospital Authority's ability to develop new IT solutions and requiring significant effort to maintain legacy systems.
The Hospital Authority then turned to Red Hat for their expertise in modernizing IT infrastructure with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform. This supports agile delivery of new innovative IT solutions while being able to manage increasing workloads. The resulting efficiency has translated into cost savings and improved business agility to meet the growing demands of public healthcare.
