As Generative AI (GenAI) transforms software engineering, its impact on the unique collaborative dynamics of Open Source Software (OSS) remains poorly understood. We develop a novel survey that bridges that gap by examining how GenAI shapes OSS development and maintenance. We explore how GenAI tools are integrated into contributor workflows, analyze their cascading effects on maintainer workloads, and what implications they have on project-level outcomes. Our findings offer a crucial pulse check on how AI is redefining the sustainability and future of open-source ecosystems.
