Red Hat is built on Red Hat products.
We deploy Red Hat products internally for the same reasons our customers do—to meet business challenges head on.
Our IT department recently moved from a multicloud infrastructure to a hybrid cloud one. Read more about this change and how it benefits our customers in a blog post by our CIO, Mike Kelly.
Where we’ve been
A few years ago, we were where you are now. Learn how our IT department adopted Red Hat OpenShift to move to a hybrid cloud infrastructure.
Organization & culture
Our IT team knew that our path to a hybrid cloud infrastructure would require organizational and culture changes. To create a “rapid digital delivery” team, we had to shift from project teams to product teams, evolve our skills, increase delivery capacity, and more.
Evolving our infrastructure
To ensure that our cloud environments appeared identical to our developers, we worked around the infrastructure differences of various clouds. By abstracting the differences, we created common infrastructure services that plug into our application lifecycle.
Where we’re headed
Red Hat OpenShift is key to Red Hat IT’s strategic direction. While we’re still early in our journey in our transition to Red Hat OpenShift, as our products evolve, so will Red Hat’s adoption and use of them to solve future business problems and to ensure that we’re helping our customers solve them too.
Bringing innovation to life
Our IT department took part in an Open Innovation Labs residency and worked with Red Hat Consulting to analyze our challenges and build a new hybrid cloud infrastructure. Through this engagement we accelerated our work and ensured we had all the right people involved to make it a success.
