We’re proud to announce that one of our partners, HPE, posted results to the SPECvirt_sc2013 benchmark that affirms the leadership position for Red Hat Virtualization (RHV) and the HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 Server. RHEL with KVM has held several performance records for 2, 4, and 8 socket results over the last few years and as of August 17, 2017, RHV now holds the 2 socket record.
Some background, SPECvirt_2013 provides an industry standard benchmark for virtualization that measures the performance of multiple workloads that are spread across many virtual machines on a single server. A higher score over a larger number of VMs shows is the desired end goal. Because the workloads tested are typical for virtualization (web server, mail server, batch server, J2EE app server, and database), it provides a realistic deployment scenario.
Having these realistic scenarios - in terms of overall virtualization performance is important - they provide a level of confidence to IT as well as the business owners of the application or business process.
Red Hat Virtualization is an open source virtualization platform built on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and the KVM hypervisor. RHV provides flexible, secure, virtualized IT infrastructure that is easy to manage and automate. RHV affords higher levels of server utilization and application performance while providing a bridge to modern virtualization challenges such as cloud and containers.
The HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 Server is securely designed to reduce costs and complexity, utilizing the Intel® Xeon® Processor Scalable Family and HPE SmartMemory. HPE Persistent Memory, optimized on HPE ProLiant Servers, offers unprecedented levels of performance for databases and analytic workloads. Run everything from the most basic to mission critical applications, and deploy with confidence.
