D. John Shakshober (Shak) is the Technical Director of Performance Engineering at Red Hat in Westford Mass. He is part of the System Design Engineering group focusing on the performance of Red Hat Enterprise Linux kernel, KVM virtualization, OpenStack and OpenShift Platforms including software defined networking and Red Hat Storage with Ceph. For 15+ years, Shak has worked with a team to ensure Red Hat Enterprise Linux delivers the peak performance on benchmarks and real customer applications on the latest partner CPUs, large Numa Memory, RHEL/fast datapath networking and SSD/NvME IO for high end databases. Responsibilities include feedback to the core Linux kernel (RHEL), Virtualization (RHEV/KVM), Cloud (OpenStack, OpenShift) and Red Hat Storage (ODF/Ceph). Shak's team works with OEMs and ISV partners on key customer applications. Shak has an M.S.in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University and a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology.
