We are pleased to announce the availability of Red Hat Satellite 6.10 Beta. This release includes many new and updated features, including improved support for Secure Environments and new features to simplify operation and administration.

Red Hat Satellite streamlines the deployment and maintenance life cycle of Red Hat environments to enable organizations to focus on their lines-of-business applications and reduce operations overhead. In 6.10, Satellite improves the user experience by focusing on simplicity and enhancing support for secure environments.

Simplicity

  • In Satellite 6.10, Pulp 2 will be upgraded to Pulp 3. MongoDB will be removed from Satellite in favor of PostgreSQL. This is designed to improve performance and resource utilization, as well as prepare for future upgrades to Satellite 7.0. The Pulp 3 upgrade is also designed to improve Disconnected Satellite use cases.

  • Satellite can now be configured to distribute Ansible collections.

  • Support for new operations with Ansible, such as checking if target hosts are compliant with an Ansible role and improved reporting. You can now apply Ansible roles in a specified order.

  • Installation and upgrade operations are improved to reduce complexity and cruft.

  • Support for management of bulk Convert2RHELoperations.

  • Satellite supports content distribution to disconnected or air-gapped sites. 6.10 enables granular support for incremental updates to Disconnected Satellite.

Improved Security

  • Support for signed Ansible playbooks to prevent tampering or unauthorized modification of playbooks sent from cloud.redhat.com.

  • Support for personal access tokens, used with API access with customized time limits. This feature enables API access without using a user’s password.

Other Improvements

  • Support for Azure Government Cloud.

  • Support for Foreman Webhooks, generalized webhooks that can be used to improve integration with third-party applications.

For more details on these and a complete list of new and improved features, visit the Red Hat Satellite 6.10 Beta website.  Customers with active Red Hat Smart Management and Red Hat Satellite subscriptions can sign up for Satellite 6.10 Beta and start testing these new features now. (Note: You must be the organization administrator on your Red Hat account to sign up for the beta.)

You can report bugs using Bugzilla, and please be sure to provide your feedback directly to the Satellite team via email after testing. Your input is important to us and will be used to shape future versions of Satellite and Smart Management.
