As we gear up for the anniversary of the original release of Red Hat Linux on October 31st, Red Hatters all around the globe are celebrating We Are Red Hat Week this week. It is our annual celebration of all the things that make Red Hat, Red Hat: our brand, our culture, and, most of all, our people!

In preparation for this week, we asked Red Hatters to share their favorite part about working here, and many people mentioned a wide array of employee benefits, ranging from work flexibility through parental leave. Here are just a few of the stories Red Hatters shared.

"My favorite thing about working at Red Hat is the choice we all have to collaborate with our colleagues remotely and in-person, as needs and circumstances dictate.

This choice, and the underlying trust that is a part of it, empowers us to do our best work. It also encourages us to maintain both principles and processes of open source, where working effectively with people around the world is table stakes." — Ryan D., Program Manager

"Red Hat didn't look at me differently or sideline me when I took 3 months parental leave. Companies love to say it's a family and all this other stuff, but they don't always love to support families the way they need to be. So cheers to Red Hat for letting parents put their children first." — Karl D., Engineering

"I enjoy the focus on getting work done and not on where this is happening. Working with colleges from all over the world lets me adapt my schedule to the varying demands across time zones.

The best part of the week is when I'm working an hour from the ranch while my girls are having their riding lessons and I can attend team meetings and work on slides." — Markus E., Marketing

"Red Hat allows me to work at home (remote), part time with office access and a full office with an assigned desk. I don't know of any company which allows this amount of flexibility." —Emmanuel K., Technical Account Management

"I like the fact that I can work from home as well as from the office sometimes. What is even better is that everyone is OK with that and it is being counted on this fact in all possible ways." — Vojtech P., Engineering

"Red Hat offers competitive benefits packages, which can include health insurance, retirement plans, and various employee perks." — Meha B., Engineering

"No pressure to come back to working in the office but offering flexibility instead (and a nice welcoming office I am happy to go to when I choose)." — Anne G., Customer Support
