The year ahead promises to be one of celebration as it marks over 25 years since we introduced the Red Hat Certification program and 10 years of the Red Hat Learning Subscription. Throughout this time, Red Hat has continued to play a key role in upskilling and reskilling teams and meeting learners and students where they are on their IT journeys.

Every year we seek to provide a high quality learning experience and continue to shape offerings to meet the evolving needs of IT professionals. Over the past year we made a significant impact across various corners of the open source community, from launching curriculum for advancing technologies to expanding both new and existing training options.

Enhancing the learning experience

Last year, creative initiatives were introduced to help IT professionals both build and celebrate their skills. One standout example was the launch of digital badges, giving professionals a way to highlight and share their commitment to continuous learning and career growth. Upon completing a training course, students earn unique badges that can be shared on social media and featured on their resumes and social media profiles.

Additionally, Red Hat leveraged a new web conferencing tool called BigBlueButton to deliver all of our global virtual training. This open source solution was designed and built specifically for virtual education and is used by universities to deliver online classes worldwide. BigBlueButton provides our customers with unique features and experiences such as a multi-use whiteboard, shared notes for classroom collaboration, automated polling using AI, extensive breakout room options and more.

Building skills with evolving technologies

Understanding that technology never stops changing, Red Hat Training and Certification enhanced our curriculum in 2024 to support two key focus areas that are quickly growing in importance: virtualization and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization gives organizations a path towards modernizing their applications, providing a consistent platform for virtualization workloads. Our updated curriculum features new content for advanced techniques, such as sealing virtual machine clones to create golden images, new features of OpenShift Virtualization 4.16 and expanding upon the basics of OpenShift to lower the barrier of entry. Those interested in advancing their skills can take advantage of the Red Hat Openshift skills path which seeks to shift learners' focus toward new technologies and develop skills that are in increasingly high demand. Now, for a limited time, you can get 70% off the self-paced version of Managing Virtual Machines with Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization with Exam (DO317) bundle.

Another course we released in 2024, Developing and Deploying AI/ML Applications on Red Hat OpenShift AI (AI267), centers around AI/ML where students can learn how to train, deploy and serve AI models, including how to leverage Red Hat Openshift AI to streamline these processes. Recent updates to our OpenShift AI course include how to control pipelines and experiments and has been updated to include advancements in Red Hat OpenShift AI version 2.13. In tandem with this training, interested students can put these skills to the test to become a Red Hat Certified Specialist in Red Hat Openshift AI.

Staying competitive with rapidly evolving technology

Red Hat Learning Subscription empowers customers to shape their future with confidence through trusted training on Red Hat products, industry-recognized certifications and a flexible approach to dynamic IT learning. As we continue to enhance the Red Hat Learning Subscription to include new training material, we have also made significant user experience improvements. Our reporting feature has been improved to help users and managers gain a clearer understanding of the progress made in improving their skills with our technologies. Additionally, the visualizations that detail progress, trends and overall consumption are being further updated so account teams and individuals can more easily track their progress.

Red Hat Skills Assessment gives you a great starting place to see where you should begin your training journey. Assessments are designed to test your expertise, identify skill gaps and provide personalized recommendations about which courses would be most beneficial. The skills assessments are continually updated to include all our new content so we can always give you the most up-to-date learning recommendations.

Inspiring tomorrow's innovators through Red Hat Academy

Red Hat also demonstrates its commitment to building foundational skills through the efforts of Red Hat Academy. This program creates an environment where current students can access training at no cost through their higher education institutions. They can also take advantage of several other benefits offered through the program including discounted certification exams and access to our talent network for potential career opportunities.

Last year we celebrated an exciting new milestone, with the program officially training 200K+ students on Red Hat technologies since it began. By equipping students with Red Hat training and certifications, Red Hat Academy helps prepare them for successful careers where they will use and build upon Red Hat technologies for years to come.

With these milestones and program advancements behind us, we are confident that we are set up for another great year for Red Hat Training and Certification. Join us at Red Hat Summit 2025 and help us celebrate over 25 years of certification success and the announcement of our Red Hat Certified Professional of the year!
