From where I sit—leading strategy and operations for AI Platform Core Components (AIPCC), an engineering function within Red Hat’s AI Engineering organization—that shift changes everything. The conversation moves from a tooling decision to an operating model decision. A strong AI platform is the foundation that helps teams ship AI-enabled capabilities on schedule, operate them reliably, and do it in a way that aligns with governance, enterprise risk, and long-term cost control.

When I talk with business leaders about how AI adoption is progressing in their organizations, the conversation usually focuses on a few practical areas tied to the operational realities of deploying AI in an enterprise environment.
- Data location and sovereignty: Many organizations have real constraints around data privacy, sovereignty, and compliance. AI solutions need to work within those realities, whether that means on-premise infrastructure, hybrid environments, or multiple clouds.
- Path from pilot to production: Demos are easy. Operationalizing AI is much harder. I always look for evidence that a platform can support real production deployments, not just experimentation.
- Flexibility as the ecosystem evolves: The AI landscape is changing quickly. Organizations need the freedom to adopt new models, tools, and infrastructure without constantly rebuilding their stack.
- Governance and scalable operations: As AI use expands across teams, governance, lifecycle management, and enterprise support become critical. The right platform should make it easier to manage risk while still enabling innovation.
Final thoughts
AI leadership today is less about chasing every new shiny capability and more about building the systems that allow AI to be adopted safely, repeatedly, and with measurable business impact. The organizations gaining real traction are investing in platforms that balance innovation with enterprise reality—security, flexibility, operational consistency, and a clear path to scale.
