Performance analysis and tuning of Red Hat Enterprise Linux - Part 1

About this video

In this session, we'll share how to configure and tune Red Hat Enterprise Linux versions 6, 7 and 8 systems for optimal performance while running common applications. You'll learn how to evaluate and analyze the performance of heavily loaded systems and how to tune them to maximize performance on bare-metal x86 systems.

-Part 1 reviews the Linux Virtual Memory System and how to tune it for non-uniform memory access. We'll share how tools like numastat and tuned are used to identify and resolve performance issues in combinations of systems and applications.

-Part 2 extends this performance to disk and network I/O. We'll review some examples that illustrate the latest performance analysis tools and techniques, such as using perf, tuna, and performance copilot to identify performance bottlenecks affecting system and application performance. Tuning applies to Red Hat OpenShift containers and KVM virtualized OpenStack/Red Hat Virtualization environments.
