Managing a complex distributed Kubernetes environment has become more crucial than ever. Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes 2.12 helps you meet this challenge with enhancements designed to streamline operations, strengthen governance and improve visibility across your entire fleet of CNCF-compliant Kubernetes clusters. Features include:
- Enhanced support for virtualization
- Automated cluster management
- Enhanced governance and policy control
This article explores new features that make this release essential for organizations managing large-scale Kubernetes deployments.
Enhanced support for OpenShift Virtualization
Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management 2.12 brings comprehensive monitoring and management of virtual machines (VM) across multiple clusters to General Availability. Key features include:
- Detailed metrics on VM configuration, resource consumption, and active alerts
- Proactive identification of unhealthy VMs
- VM inventory management with advanced search, filtering and VM actions (Technology Preview)
These features provide unprecedented visibility into OpenShift Virtualization environments. Now you can quickly identify and resolve issues, optimize resource allocation and enable the health of virtual workloads across your entire cluster landscape, all from the centralized Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management console.
Automated ROSA discovery and import
Manually adding clusters in Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS (ROSA) clusters takes time, and as with anything done manually it's also prone to error. Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management 2.12 provides you with automated ROSA discovery and import features that reduce onboarding friction, save valuable time and minimize configuration errors.
Hosted control planes on IBM Power and IBM Z
This expansion brings the efficiency of hosted control planes to mainframe and IBM Power environments:
- Increased resilience for mission-critical workloads
- Reduced cluster management costs
- Seamless integration for enterprises with hybrid infrastructure
By extending support to these platforms, Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management 2.12 enables you to leverage your existing investments in IBM hardware while embracing modern, Kubernetes-based architecture.
Policy management with OpenShift GitOps integration
New enhancements simplify policy management in GitOps workflows, allowing you to achieve agile and consistent governance across your Kubernetes environments. Key capabilities include:
- Deploy policies directly to clusters from Git repositories with OpenShift GitOps (Argo CD)
- Seamlessly integrate policies into app-of-apps deployment patterns
- Enhanced Argo CD with health checks that can understand the policy violation status
Embracing the future of multicluster management
Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management 2.12 represents a step forward in simplifying the complexities of managing large-scale Kubernetes deployments. By providing deep insights into cluster and VM health, automating routine tasks and enhancing policy control, this release empowers your organization to:
- Accelerate your cloud-native initiatives
- Strengthen your security posture
- Optimize resource utilization across hybrid and multi-cloud environments
Whether you're managing a handful of clusters or thousands, Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management 2.12 provides you with the tools you need to operate with confidence and agility.
