Every year, the mainstage at Red Hat Summit overflows with stories about the powerful role enterprise open source tools can play in a company's digital strategy. Speakers from across industries, sectors—even countries—take the floor to explain how they're using open tools to build better solutions—for themselves and their customers.
At Red Hat Summit 2019, that won't change. Today we're announcing the next round of keynote speakers to appear in Boston, May 7‒9. Join us to hear how open source is making a difference in industries ranging from telecommunications and finance to healthcare.
In addition to the exciting customers who will be joining us, these Red Hat executives will also take the main stage: Marco Bill-Peter, senior vice president, Customer Experience and Engagement (CEE); Leigh Day, vice president, Marketing Communications; and Denise Dumas, vice president, Operating System Platform.
Deutsche Bank: Tom Gilbert, managing director, global head of Cloud, Application and Integration platforms
As Germany’s leading bank, Deutsche Bank embarked on a journey to become more technology-led. This required it to consolidate and simplify its application estate, improve both developer productivity and server utilization, and, in doing so, reduce the running costs of infrastructure. Gilbert will explore how Red Hat technology, including Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, has enabled Deutsche Bank to be more agile, flexible and deliver applications in weeks instead of months. In addition, he will talk about how the culture has shifted further towards an open source way of working, embracing collaborative principles and DevOps.
HCA Healthcare: Dr. Edmund Jackson, chief data scientist
Sepsis is an overwhelming response to infection that turns the body’s immune system against itself. In the absence of early detection, it can rapidly lead to tissue damage, severe organ failure and death. As one of the nation’s leading providers of healthcare services, HCA Healthcare is now leveraging artificial intelligence, based on data from millions of hospitalizations, to help detect sepsis up to 18 hours earlier than traditional screenings. Jackson will share how his team used Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and Red Hat Enterprise Linux to develop Sepsis Prediction & Optimization of Therapy (SPOT), a predictive algorithm and workflow for the early detection and treatment of sepsis that is helping to save lives.
Hilti: Dr. Christoph Baeck, head of IT Infrastructure
Attendees will hear from the 2009 Innovation Award winner, Hilti - a leading-edge technology provider to the global construction industry - about how their story has progressed over the past 10 years. As a multinational company that develops, manufactures, and markets products for the construction, building maintenance, energy and manufacturing industries, Baeck will talk about his journey with Red Hat and SAP and their technology innovations with Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP S/4 Hana.
Optus: Guillaume Poulet-Mathis, senior innovation manager, and Vasily Chekalkin, principal software engineer
As a leader in the Australian telecommunications industry, Optus has an important role to play in the adoption of NFV and 5G solutions. As part of a voice innovation program, Optus recently used Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform to deploy a new generation of virtualized mobile core functions. During this segment Poulet-Mathis and Chekalkin will present a live demonstration of a digitized native phone call and describe how software developers can revolutionize carrier networks.
