Is there a cost for the intelligent assistant?

The intelligent assistant service is included with an Ansible Automation Platform subscription. However, standard usage charges from your chosen connected model provider apply. 

What is the difference between the automation coding assistant and the intelligent assistant?

Both features are generative AI services, helping to solve two different use cases: 

  • The automation coding assistant is integrated into the Ansible VS Code extension, helping automation developers and engineers quickly create reliable automation code. It is currently compatible with Red Hat AI platforms, IBM watsonx Code Assistant, Gemini (Vertex), or OpenAI-compliant model providers.
  • The automation intelligent assistant empowers Ansible Automation Platform administrators and IT operators to manage and troubleshoot their automation estate. It is compatible with Red Hat AI platforms or through supported third-party model providers.

Do I need my own large language model (LLM) to use the intelligent assistant?

Yes. The service is currently compatible with Red Hat AI platforms or through supported third-party model providers.

How do I set up the intelligent assistant?

The service is available through on-premise deployments using the containerized installer or OpenShift Container Platform using the Ansible Automation Platform operator. Customers are required to connect their own LLM, either through Red Hat AI platforms or through supported third-party providers. Read the documentation. 

To deploy the automation intelligent assistant with a managed Ansible Automation Platform instance, the Red Hat site reliability engineering (SRE) team must create a chatbot-configuration-secret on your OpenShift cluster. Please submit a Red Hat support case to initiate this process.
