An in-place upgrade is the recommended and supported way to migrate your system to the next major version of Red Hat® Enterprise Linux®. A fresh installation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 requires a lot of post-installation work to make the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 operating environment compatible with its previous version. An in-place upgrade allows you to preserve server customizations such as IP and DNS configurations, security policies, tuned profiles, and application environments, while upgrading the underlying operating system. The Leapp utility performs extensive checks to ensure system configuration and binary compatibility between operating system versions. When all warnings are resolved, the Leapp utility will perform the in-place upgrade for you. In this webinar, we’ll cover:

  • Preparing your system for upgrade.
  • Using the Leapp utility to generate a preinstallation report on possible blockers to a         successful upgrade.
  • Using Cockpit to remediate blockers in the preinstallation report.
  • Executing and verifying the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 installation.
